The legend lives on.
MINI continues to trailblaze through the new millennium. John Cooper set up MINI John Cooper Works in 2000, supplying MINI with new tuning accessories. In 2005 the limited edition pre-tuned MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP kit was presented at the MINI United Festival, and was widely lauded as the fastest road-going MINI ever. 2012 saw its re-launch as the sportiest series-production MINI, with only 2,000 of them built. The John Cooper Works range continues to expand, with the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible as the latest speed demon to hit the streets.
Meanwhile in the world of motorsport, MINI shows no sign of slowing down. The MINI John Cooper Works Challenge hit race circuits across the globe for the first time in 2004. And in April 2011, the first new MINI rally car for over 40 years was finally unveiled: the MINI John Cooper Works WRC. In 2012 and 2013, Stéphane Peterhansel blitzed his way to two legendary victories in his MINI ALL4 Racing at the Dakar Rally. MINI continues to prove its racing prowess across the many fields of motorsport. Motorsport is part of MINI DNA, and John Cooper saw it from the start.
