A NOT NORMAL DAY-TO-REMEMBER.
Few events trigger as much excitement as a MINI celebration and this weekend’s NOT NORMAL extravaganza was no exception. Putting its individual style, creativity, high-energy attitude and latest MINI models on display, the iconic brand hosted one of the hottest events of the year, with hundreds of MINI fans from across Lebanon coming together for an unforgettable and NOT NORMAL experience.
The event kicked off with a convoy of 145 MINI cars with owners and competition winners taking to the streets to test their driving skills on a tour which took them from ABC Dbayeh in Beirut to the Ixsir Winery in Batroun.
The MINI aficionados then settled in for what was a truly unforgettable and NOT NORMAL day against the backdrop of the estate’s stunning vineyards. Hosted by Bassoul-Heneine sal, the MINI importer in Lebanon, guests were greeted by valette parking – yes, you read that correctly; a bevy of glamourous women welcomed people and parked their MINIs for them. A man’s job you say? Not at this NOT NORMAL event. Guests were then immersed in flowing coloured balls as they climbed the entrance stairs into a mysterious tunnel. Their destination? A NOT NORMAL courtyard of MINI fun. They were then greeted by musician Joy Fayad sat under an olive tree in a wedding gown playing her guitar and singing, while ponies grazed and mime artists entertained. Fruit baskets lay under the trees for them to tuck into and waiters with wacky hairdos dished out yummy delights.
The NOT NORMAL fun didn’t stop there; a MINI Cooper S with a giant Havaiana flip-flop on its roof enticed guests with free customization for their Havaianas and prizes, while DJs blasting tunes out of the trunk of a MINI Countryman. For all the MINI fashionistas, designer Jean Louis Sabagi showcased a MINI-inspired creation that guests were then able to try on and have their picture taken with next to a MINI Roadster Meanwhile a MINI Cabrio was transformed into a blank canvas for guests to write messages and draw pictures on to capture moments from the day.
Raving about the event, one participant said: “Wowww! Amazing! I could not have imagined a NOT NORMAL day to be as fun and crazy as today. We love MINI and we love driving our MINI. It is not just a car, it is a MINI!”
Perhaps the most colourful MINI attraction of the day was the MINI SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS – a MINI Coupe filled with candy, toys, glitter and Lomo Cameras, eight of which were given to lucky guests to create even more memories. A MINI Paceman took centre stage for a series of performances and flash mobs.
Yet another MINI patron further added: “My MINI puts me in a great mood. I love every single detail about this NOT NORMAL day. Look around you, people are happy, people love MINI. Who would not love MINI? We are NOT NORMAL people and only MINI can convey this message.”
“MINI is unique, high-energy, creative and above all, NOT NORMAL. It’s therefore fitting that a MINI event embodies all these qualities. Ponies, giant flip-flops, valette parking and a MINI full of candy – is that normal?! I think everyone will agree that it was a NOT NORMAL day-to-remember and we can’t wait to host more events like this in Lebanon in the future,” said Nagy Heneine, General Manager for Commercial Affairs at Bassoul-Heneine sal.
The event forms part of MINI’s new global brand advertising campaign – NOT NORMAL. Designed to highlight the strong emotional and personal connection between a driver and his/her MINI, NOT NORMAL focuses on MINI's strong and independent character. The campaign, which integrates the full range of MINI products, is currently being rolled out worldwide through various communication channels.
